Cristiano Ronaldo's record for Portugal is simply outstanding.

The Juventus superstar has scored nearly a century of goals on international duty, taking his tally to 93 with four strikes against European minnows Lithuania on Tuesday evening.

Only Iran legend Ali Daei (109 goals) has more than Ronaldo and given the Juve man's ridiculous fitness levels, he will likely surpass that record in the next couple of years.

However, Ronaldo is far from the only man to excel for his country in the modern day.

One man who arguably outperforms the former Real Madrid man is Neymar, a player who was touted with filling the Ronaldo-shaped void at Los Blancos this summer.

Given Neymar's reputation with diving, many football fans have forgotten how outrageous his goal record for Brazil is.

In 98 games, the Paris Saint-Germain forward has scored 61 goals - including one versus Colombia during this break - an average of 0.62-per-game.

Ronaldo? Well his 93 strikes in 160 matches see him come out with an average of 0.58.

If we combine goals and assists, Neymar is utterly dominant.

The Brazilian has 41 assists to add to his plethora of goals, meaning he is involved in 1.05 goals each time he dons the famous yellow jersey.

As for Ronaldo, his 37 assists and 93 goals see him contribute to 0.81 goals per game for Portugal.

It's mighty impressive stuff from Neymar and at the age of 27, he has many years of international duty left in him.

Brazilian legend Pele still holds the record for most goals for a South American nation with 77, but it's surely only a matter of time until Neymar betters that.

Ronaldo has every chance of breaking Daei's record, but once he does, Neymar will be hot on his tail.

If only Brazil had the chance to play Lithuania and San Marino...
