The lineal heavyweight championship fight between Swedish Otto Wallin and British Tyson Fury could have been all over by TKO in the third round after the former’s massive left hook gave the Gypsy King a huge cut over his right eye.
The cut was being seen to after the bell in the third, and Fury’s camp was trying desperately to get it sorted out sooner rather than later so he could carry on with the fight that so many people were expecting him to win with no real hiccups.
The cut was deep, and the blood was pouring throughout the fight, blurring Fury’s vision and making the fight a lot tricker than it should have been.
After every round, Fury would need to be seen to by his corner and patched up with plenty of vaseline in order to keep his eye in the best state possible.
Whilst being seen to, Ben Davison, his trainer, would keep his fighter in the zone and try his best to make him forget about the deep gash that had developed above his right eye.

Eventually, the night was Fury’s, as he won via unanimous decision after the fight went all the way.
This would have been a major upset by the Swedish prospect, as Fury already has plans of a Deontay Wilder rematch early next year, with plenty of rumours tipping it for February.
Fury would have no doubt been looking at this fight as a warm-up to the Wilder rematch, and must have seen Wallin as an easy match-up beforehand, however, the huge cut to his eye would not only come as a surprise to Fury, but to the millions of boxing fans tuning into the fight.
Credit to Wallin; he gave it his all and he gave Fury a real scare, but unfortunately for him, he’s just another man to fall short against the Gypsy King.
