Conor McGregor hints at UFC return in Dublin in December

UFC 229 Khabib v McGregor: Weigh-Ins

It appears Conor McGregor has announced exactly when he plans to return to the Octagon and make his UFC comeback.

McGregor hasn't competed for UFC since he faced Khabib Nurmagomedov for the UFC Lightweight Championship at UFC 229 back in October last year.

He was suspended for his involvement in the brawl that took place following his fight with Khabib, but that suspension has been up since April. Yet, he hasn't been booked for another fight.

That soon could be about to change as Notorious has sent out an interesting tweet which could be an indication as to when he will return to the Octagon for another UFC fight.

He tweeted last night: "Dublin, December 14th."

December 14 is already an interesting date for UFC fans, as this will be when UFC 245 takes place in Las Vegas.

As of writing, the main event hasn't been booked for the UFC 245 card, so perhaps UFC will announce that McGregor will be filling in that spot in the next few days. We'll have to wait and see.

What's also interesting is the mention of Dublin in Notorious' tweet.

McGregor has constantly said he wants to fight in Dublin to allow more Irish fans who can't afford to fly out to Vegas to watch him compete.

If the Irishman gets his wish, it will be his first MMA fight in his home country since he defeated Diego Brandao in July 2014.

As for who the former UFC Lightweight Champion could be fighting, the names that have been rumoured the heaviest over the past few weeks are Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier.

Gaethje fought against Donald Cerrone at UFC Vancouver last weekend and won via TKO (punches) in the first round. He said after the fight that he would love to fight McGregor.

Poirier recently lost in a UFC Lightweight Championship fight against Khabib at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi earlier this month.

If booked, this would be the second fight between McGregor and Poirier as the two previously fought back in September 2014 at UFC 178. Notorious won on that night.
