Real Madrid are starting to make a habit of signing players from Chelsea.

In the last two summers, Los Blancos have brought two of the London club's star names to the Spanish capital in Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard.

The latter's departure from England this summer was a huge blow to the Blues, with Frank Lampard unable to really replace the little Belgian due to a transfer ban.

And Chelsea could face the daunting prospect of losing another star name to Real Madrid in the form of N'Golo Kante.

Reports from France state that both Courtois and Hazard are attempting to convince the Spanish club to sign their former teammate.

If they can persuade the board, the Blues may struggle to keep ahold of Kante.

Real Madrid possess the financial resources to meet near enough any valuation for the player, while the prospect of donning the famous white shirt is normally to hard to turn down for most.

Zinedine Zidane is knowingly keen on bringing in a high-profile midfielder, with Paul Pogba topping his wish list this summer.

Los Blancos were also linked with Donny van de Beek and Bruno Fernandes throughout the summer months, although deals never materialised.

The consensus seems to be that Zidane is aware that Luka Modric - despite winning the Ballon d'Or last year - will need to be replaced in the not too distant future.

A midfield of Kante, Casemiro and Toni Kroos behind the likes of Hazard, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale certainly does sound mouthwatering.

Lampard may need to start thinking of potential replacements for Kante during the season...
