South African’s fastest woman, Carina Horn has been provisionally suspended following doping violations and will not compete at the IAAF World Championships in Doha.

According to the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), Horn tested positive for the use of banned substances Ibutamoren, and the anabolic agent LGD-4033. 

Horn, 30 made history last year by becoming the first female sprinter in South Africa to dip below 11 seconds in the 100m, clocking a personal best of 10.98 seconds. She holds the national record in this event.

Horn represented South Africa at the World Championships in 2014 and 2017 reaching the semi-final on both occasions. She was also present at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, just failing to reach the final.

She was expected to represent South Africa at the World Championships in Doha later this month.
