Wednesday night’s Champions League clash between Atletico Madrid and Juventus gave us the chance to watch the present and future of Portuguese football go head-to-head at the Wanda Metropolitano.Cristiano Ronaldo and Joao Felix played against each other in pre-season and it was the youngster who came out on top that time, producing a stunning individual performance and helping himself to a couple of goals in the process.Pre-season friendlies and competitive Champions League fixtures, however, are two very different things - and this time Felix wasn’t able to outshine his superstar compatriot in quite the same way.Juventus went 2-0 up thanks to second-half goals from Juan Cuadrado and Blaise Matuidi. But Atletico fought back and earned a draw, with the goals coming from Stefan Savic and Hector Herrera.

Neither Ronaldo or Felix contributed a goal or an assist during the match but they had their chances.

Ronaldo was presented with a fantastic opportunity to seal all three points for Juventus deep into stoppage time but failed to hit the target from inside the box.

There was a lovely moment before kick-off between Ronaldo and Felix, which showed the mutual respect present between the two Portugal internationals.

Ronaldo approached Felix and put his hand on the 19-year-old’s neck while saying a few words.
