Paris Saint-Germain were without Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe as 13-time European Cup winners Real Madrid came to town.
But without their star trio, the French champions ran out comfortable 3-0 winners thanks to a brace from former Real player Angel di Maria and a late Thomas Munier strike.
While Di Maria will get all the headlines, there was also another rather incredible performance in the PSG side that may slip under the radar.
We’re talking about the display of Idrissa Gueye.
PSG paid Everton £30 million for the midfielder in the summer and it’s already looking like money well spent.

You can have all the superstars in the world but if you haven’t got a player like Gueye in your side, you’re going to get overrun in midfield. Instead, it was Real’s midfield who got overrun as Gueye, Marco Veratti and Marquinos dominated.
But it was Gueye, in particular, that contributed to that.
The 29-year-old was everywhere. Winning the ball back, dribbling past players and making forward runs. It was a sensational performance and BT Sport have compiled Gueye’s individual performance into a seven-minute highlight package.
And it’s rather impressive.
Take a look:
After the match, BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand sang the praises of the Senegalese star.
“I’d seen him at Everton and thought he was a really good player, but he showed more tonight,” Ferdinand said.
“He was comfortable, brought people into the game, it looked like he had been playing at this level for years.”
In fact, it was Gueye’s first Champions League match for seven years.
And there was a lovely moment between manager Thomas Tuchel and Gueye at full-time.
The former Borussia Dortmund gave his player a kind of hug you only reserve for a loved one.
That’s how good Gueye was.News Now - Sport News
