Following his £74 million move from Manchester United in the summer, Romelu Lukaku started his Inter Milan career in the perfect possible way by scoring on his debut against Lecce. However, since then, the Belgian’s time in Italy has turned into a bit of a nightmare. In his second match, Lukaku was subjected to vile racist abuse by the Cagliari fans as the striker prepared to take a penalty.Lukaku stuck away the penalty and turned to face the home fans in disgust. However, if Lukaku thought he was going to be defending in the face of sickening abuse, he was sadly mistaken.

The Inter Milan Ultras wrote an open letter to him explaining why what Cagliari did wasn’t racist.

Meanwhile, Italian TV pundit Luciano Passirani was sacked for saying the only way to stop Lukaku was to ‘give him bananas.’

Then, on Tuesday, the Italian FA confirmed that the Cagliari fans wouldn’t face any punishment for their chants towards Lukaku as they weren’t considered ‘discriminatory.’

When the Italian FA made their announcement, Lukaku was getting ready for Inter Milan’s opening Champions League tie at home to Slavia Prague.

With Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund in their group, Inter knew they needed to beat the Czech side.

But they could only draw 1-1 with only an injury-time equaliser from Nicolo Barella sparing their blushes.

But, after the match, Lukaku was involved in a ‘furious dressing-room row’ with teammate Marcelo Brozovic.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku criticised the team for not following Antonio Conte’s tactics. Brozovic thought those comments were aimed at him and took offence.

Lukaku then blamed Brozovic for losing possession too regularly before the midfielder fired back, blaming his teammate for missing an opportunity in front of goal.

It led Brozovic and Lukaku going head-to-head before they had to be separated by Alexis Sanchez, according to the Daily Mail.

On the pitch, Lukaku has scored two goals in three Serie A matches but, off the pitch, it’s turning into a bit of a nightmare for the 26-year-old.

They face AC Milan in the Milan derby this weekend and Lukaku will be looking to bounce back.
