David Beckham is close to making his first marquee signing for Inter Miami FC.

His side, who will join the MLS next year, have been linked with a whole host of names.

Lionel Messi, Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez are just a few big players that have been linked with a move.

But, according to the Independent, it is David Silva who is set to become the club's first marquee signing.

The Spanish midfielder has been at Manchester City since 2010 but has previously stated this year will be his last with the club.

And the 33-year-old has decided to see out his career in the United States by playing for David Beckham's side.

Silva will see out the rest of the season at Man City before joining Beckham's side in the summer.

Beckham has been to bring in a Spanish-speaking superstar to maximise interest from south Florida’s large Hispanic community.

The American league starts in March, meaning Silva will miss the first few months of the season.

Inter Miami currently only have three players on their team - Matias Pellegrini, Julian Carranza and Christian Makoun.

The side will be built around Silva who, despite his age will still be one of the, if not the best players in the MLS.

The Spaniard will leave Manchester City as one of the best players in their history.

In his stint so far, he has made 395 appearances and scored 70 times.

He's helped the side to 12 major trophies, including four Premier League titles.

The one trophy he seems to be missing is the Champions League. He will have one final chance to try and win it this season.

Silva has also had an illustrious international career. He's played 125 times for his country and was part of the team's that won the World Cup in 2010 and their European Championship triumphs in 2008 and 2012.
