Barcelona haven't made the best of starts to the 2019/20 season.

Four games into La Liga and the Blaugrana find themselves outside of the top four after only winning twice, scoring 12 goals but conceding seven.

They've been uncharacteristically leaky in defence and the absence of Lionel Messi - who has been out with a foot injury - has been very noticeable.

Messi returned to face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday as Barca only managed a goalless draw.

He's expected to start against Granada this weekend and that's nothing but good news - but problems remain.

One issue for Barcelona fans is the system that manager Ernesto Valverde deploys, which is both unpredictable and too defensive at times.

Something needs to change if Barcelona are going to close the gap in La Liga and challenge for the Champions League, besides Messi returning to save the day.

And it seems like they may have a potential solution.

According to reports in France, per the Guardian, Barcelona chiefs are considering replacing Valverde with Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel has impressed since taking over PSG in 2018 and on Wednesday he masterminded a 3-0 victory over Real Madrid without Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani.

Manchester United are also said to be interested in the German, but he'll find it hard to turn down Barcelona should they come calling.

Barca seldom stick with a manager for too long and after two years in the hot seat, it may be time for Valverde to move on.
