Loris Karius was a promising goalkeeper at Liverpool.

The German goalkeeper took the gloves off Simon Mignolet and it looked as if he would be the Reds' number one for many years to come.

That was until his nightmare in the 2018 Champions League final.

Karius' mistakes for Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale's goals cost his side on the night as they lost 3-1.

That would be the German's last competitive appearance for Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp signing Alisson Becker to replace him.

Karius moved on loan to Besiktas and is currently in the second year of his spell.

But how is he doing? Not well, by the looks of things.

Karius made a number of mistakes during his first season with the Turkish club.

And he's just made another calamitous error in the Europa League against Slovan Bratislava.

The former Mainz 05 unnecessarily came steaming out of his goal to try and clear a long ball forward.

It looked as if his teammate would easily clear the danger, but Karius prevented that from happening by launching himself at the ball.

But he mistimed his jump and barely made contact with the ball, leaving Andraz Sporar with the easy task of putting the ball into an empty net.

Watch it below:

Oh dear, Loris. He's had another nightmare here.

Karius was recently asked whether he would return to Liverpool next summer.

“I’m not thinking about it at the moment. There’s still a long way to go before my loan spell ends," he told Star, per SportWitness.

I am focusing on matches, my performances. We will talk about it at the end of the season.”

If he keeps on making mistakes like that, there's no chance that the Reds will want him back at the club.
