Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to play a number of fringe stars for Manchester United's Europa League opener against Astana on Thursday night.Youngsters Tahith Chong , Mason Greenwood and Angel Gomes all came into the side. And forgotten man Marcos Rojo also got the chance to start. The defender has had a tough time in the past few seasons. He made just 12 appearances in the 2017/18 season and followed it up with just six first team games last term.

Solskjaer tried to ship him out in the summer and was reportedly close to moves to both Everton and Fenerbahce.

But a move never materialised meaning he will stay at Old Trafford for at least another four months.

The 29-year-old has not featured in United's opening five Premier League games but he seized his opportunity in his first start of the season.

Rojo had a fine game, much to the surprise of many United fans.

Playing in a left-back role, Rojo was playing with confidence and was contributing to attacks with regularity.

And in the second half, he did the unthinkable.

Finding himself in a central area, the defender actually attempted to pull off a Rabona cross. Yes, you heard that right.

And, predictably, the ball went hardly anywhere.

Watch it below:

The guy is a madman. A for effort, but sadly it's an F for execution.

United eventually won 1-0 on the night, thanks to a late goal from 17-year-old, Greenwood.

While Greenwood will get the plaudits, it was Rojo who was perhaps the Man-of-the-Match on the night.
