As always, there has been plenty of fallout from this year’s FIFA’s ‘The Best’ awards. In truth, it’s impossible to please every single football fan when dishing out individual accolades.Did Virgil van Dijk deserve ‘The Best’ award ahead of Lionel Messi?Did the likes of Marcelo, Luka Modric and Eden Hazard deserve to make the FIFPRO World XI?Did Daniel Zsori deserve to win the Puskas Award?

Of course, all the awards are voted for so it’s hard to argue really.

One interesting aspect of the main award is seeing who voted for who.

International captains, managers and a delegate from each nation’s media each get a vote and it’s nice of FIFA to release them following the result.

But it can cause some argument.

That seems to be the case as far as Mohamed Salah is concerned, according to Marca.

Salah has had a troubled history with his national side with issues such as his image rights causing arguments.

And it seems he didn’t take too kindly to Egyptian journalist Hany Danial voting for Sadio Mane and Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Salah in third.

As for Egypt’s captain and manager - Ahmed Elmohamady and Hossam El-Badry - they didn’t even bother voting.

Incidentally, Salah came fourth in the vote behind Messi, Van Dijk and Ronaldo and a couple of votes wouldn’t have changed that.

However, the Liverpool star has apparently removed ‘Egypt’ from his Twitter bio as on the back of the votes.

After plenty of talk of Salah retiring from international in the past, is now the time?

Salah has seemingly responded and sent the following tweet this afternoon that translates to: “No matter how much they try to change my love for you and your people, they won't be able to.”

Quite what that means is unknown at this stage.

But the Egyptian journalist could have avoided all of this and just voted for Salah like everyone expected him to…
