It’s hard to know what any footballer is truly worth in the current market.

Transfer fees are becoming increasingly ridiculous with each passing window and we’re now at the stage where ‘average’ Premier League players are going for well over £30 million.

However, Transfermarkt.com do their own market value system and there’s a handy little feature which tells you the biggest player increases over a specific period of time.

We’ve taken a look at the top 50 players in the world whose market value has increased most since the start of the year.

50. Wilfried Zaha | Crystal Palace

Market value: £49.5 million

Market value increase: + £18 million (57.1% rise)

Submitted a transfer request in the summer, in order to try and force a move to Arsenal, but Palace would accept nothing less than £80 million. Although his market value has increased since January, it hasn’t increased that much.

The Spain international scored 13 La Liga goals for La Real last season.

Inconsistent but talented, Dembele’s market value has increased by 25 per cent since January.

The world’s best goalkeeper has seen his market value rise to £90 million.

Some people say Pogba had a bad season last year. Sixteen goals and a place in the PFA Team of the Year would suggest otherwise.
