It's incredible to think that in the near three years he's competed on WWE's main roster, Samoa Joe hasn't held a world championship of any kind.

The Samoan Submission Machine has had countless opportunities, whether that be against AJ Styles, Brock Lesnar or Kofi Kingston, but the powers that be haven't seen fit to give him a run.

He is a two-time United States Champion, but neither of those runs really amounted to anything, and many WWE fans believe he deserves better.

Joe impressed a lot of people in Ring Of Honor, on the independent circuit and most notably in TNA Wrestling, where he competed in their only five-star match in history and was a grand slam champion.

It took Joe 15 years after his debut to end up in WWE, but like other established stars Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura, he started off in NXT, and that may have been something to do with Vince McMahon.

Joe has claimed that Vince didn't see what others saw in him, despite having many supporters in the company over the years.

“Oh, there were tons here for years. Years," Joe told Fightful, per NoDQ. "Vince vehemently opposed me being in WWE. He didn’t know me, wasn’t familiar with me."

And it seems like it was only after he competed in NXT that McMahon saw him as a main roster superstar.

"And now we have a great relationship, everything’s working fine. I think he just realized he already bought it, so he might as well use it," Joe continued.

"No, like I said, with every partner I’ve ever worked with it’s about time and understanding. And we’ve had some time and we’ve had some understanding. It’s working out pretty well."

Joe isn't getting any younger, and at 40 years of age his chance at becoming a world champion in WWE could possibly be over.

But he's still a solid hand and he's seemingly happy to put other younger superstars over, and if that is what he wants to do, then so be it.

If he wants more though, there's probably another promotion that would happily snap him up...
