Martin Odegaard has become almost a forgotten man at Real Madrid. The Norwegian midfielder was coveted by the world's best clubs when he was a 15-year-old Strømsgodset. It was Real Madrid that won the race for his signature, but he hasn't progressed as expected. He made his debut for the club as a 16-year-old, but that is his only competitive appearance for the club to date. He's spent the last three seasons out on loan and is currently spending time in La Liga with Real Sociedad.

And he's shining.

Odegaard, now 20 years old, has been one of the best players in La Liga this season.

He's already netted twice for the Spanish club and won the club's Player of the Month for August.

And now he's provided one of the best assists of the season so far.

Odegaard started against Alaves on Thursday night and he played a huge role as his side broke the deadlock.

In the 19th minute, he picked up the ball in the opposition third, nutmegged a player and then played an inch-perfect ball to Mikel Oyarzabal.

The Spaniard then had the easy task of tapping the ball into the empty net.

Watch it below:

What a special assist.

Odegaard has a tough task of ever becoming a regular for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid are blessed with talent in the position he plays, with James Rodriguez, Isco and Marco Asensio all at the club.

To make matters even harder for him, he probably isn't even considered Real Madrid's brightest prospect.

That title perhaps goes to Takefusa Kubo, who shone for the club in pre-season and is now spending time on loan at Mallorca.

But if Odegaard continues to impress at Real Sociedad, he may well be able to force his way into Zinedine Zidane's plans.
