To WWE fans it feels like there has been more of Stone Cold Steve Austin in a WWE ring this year than there has been in the past 10.

The Texas Rattlesnake appeared on Raw twice in the space of two months, once for Raw Reunion and then to moderate the contract signing at Madison Square Garden between Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman earlier this month.

He's also going to be present at SmackDown's launch on FOX next Friday, so expect plenty of WHAT chants if he gets on the microphone.

Stone Cold may be one of the only big wrestling legends who hasn't 'overstayed his welcome' when it comes to his in-ring career.

He retired back in 2003 following his WrestleMania trilogy match with The Rock, and unlike others such as Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels and others, hasn't gone back on his word.

When it comes to the likes of HBK, Goldberg and The Undertaker, they've been unable to turn down the paydays that Saudi Arabia have had to offer recently - even Mick Foley said he'd come back for the right price.

But would Stone Cold return to the squared circle after all the surgeries he's had on his body?

Well he says he COULD do, but stopped short of saying that he would definitely return.

“People always ask me, ‘Hey man, you’re still in really good shape. You got one more match left in you?’ Stone Cold said on his podcast, per talkSPORT.

"And I tell them, ‘Man.’ I say, ‘You know, it’s a tough thing to think about.’ Physically, would I be able to have one more match? Yes, most definitely, and I could make it to that match without being injured.

"Although the risks are always there, just because I think all of the surgeries, I had… where I had the spinal stenosis, and getting that bone spur taken off my spinal cord - I’m in a good place. Nerves are feeling a lot better than they use to.

So, you know, in theory, could I have a match? In theory, yes.

We all know a wrestling fan who would like to see Austin go in one more match.

If Stone Cold ruled it out entirely then we could all sleep peacefully at night, but his latest words will only ramp up speculation that sooner rather than later, he will lace up the boots for a final time.
