The wait is finally over. As of midnight, the standard edition of FIFA 20 is now officially available to purchase.

There are high hopes for the new instalment in the series.

FIFA 19 was widely criticised and EA have worked hard to try and return the series back to where it once was.

And one of the major additions they've made is with the new game mode - Volta football.

Volta football is inspired by FIFA Street, allowing players to play in 3v3, 4v4, 5v5 and professional futsal games.

The game mode includes Story Mode as well as an online league which includes promotion and relegation.

You can also play as your favourite professional team in Volta Kick-Off.

There's a lot of excitement around Volta but it's unlikely that it'll be overtake Ultimate Team as the most played game mode.

Ultimate Team was first introduced in FIFA 09 and has gone from strength-to-strength ever since.

The game mode allows you to create any team you want - provided you have the coins.

As well as being able to purchase nearly every professional player in the world, the game mode even features legendary past players named 'Icons'.

There are 88 icons in the game, with 14 being added to this year's game.

Zinedine Zidane, Didier Drogba, Ian Wright and more will join the likes of Steven Gerrard, Pele and Bobby Moore.

These players will be extremely expensive though - so you've got to be extremely dedicated or get lucky in packs.

If Volta or Ultimate Team aren't to your fancy, then Career Mode might be for you.

Career Mode is the game's longest serving mode and has been given a number of updates.

There is more customisation, while private player conversations, interactive press conferences and more have also been added.

Pro Clubs also returns for the game and allows you to play with your mates against other clubs online.

Let's just hope that the new edition is a massive improvement on FIFA 19 and manages to live up to it's hype.
