Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's brother deletes comment after Granit Xhaka named Arsenal captain

Watford FC v Arsenal FC - Premier League

We’re more than a month into the new season and Unai Emery has finally decided Arsenal’s new club captain.

After Laurent Koscielny left the club for Bordeaux in the summer, the Gunners needed a new skipper.

Instead of picking one himself, he asked the players to vote for who they think should be their leader.

Then, Emery would pick five captains from the results.

The winner? Granit Xhaka.

The midfielder isn’t exactly loved by supporters with his performances often leaving a lot to be desired.

And that was obvious with the reaction on social media to the decision to hand Xhaka the armband.

One of the fans that left a rather negative comment was Willy Aubameyang - the brother of Pierre-Emerick.

After Arsenal TV Instagram posted an image of Xhaka with the caption "Our Captain,” Willy just had to reply.

He replied with eight sad faces before quickly deleting his comment.

Does his brother feel the same?

Of course, Pierre-Emerick - who has also been named in the list of five captains - was never going to post anything negative.

He posted a happy birthday message to Xhaka saying “Happy birthday Capi.”

After Xhaka and Aubameyang, the other captains are Alex Lacazette, Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding.

However, Emery admitted that he and Xhaka need to change the perception of fans.

"I talked to him and we want to change that opinion outside because the respect he has inside is very important," Emery said.

"But also to show outside, keep moving ahead, playing, improving, behaviour, commitment and in each match is for him, me and for everybody a very good opportunity to show his capacity.

"But really, I trust and believe in him. He is a good man, good professional, good player."
