Aaron Ramsey took a gamble when he left Arsenal for Juventus in the summer.

The Welshman was out of contract and while he earns a reported £400k-a-week, he wasn't guaranteed a first-team place.

The centre of midfield is pretty stacked at Juve, with Blaise Matuidi, Sami Khedira, Miralem Pjanic, Emre Can, and Rodrigo Bentacur already at the club.

Adrien Rabiot joined from Paris Saint-Germain, too, adding further competition in the middle.

New manager Maurizio Sarri only plays with three in the middle, meaning a good few are missing out every week.

Can didn't even make the Champions League squad, for one thing.

But it looks like Ramsey has won the bet on himself as Sarri is set to change formation thanks to the 28-year-old.

Douglas Costa, the outstanding winger at Juve, is out with an injury, creating a problem for the team.

Sarri's way of fixing things? Switching to a 4-3-1-2 formation, with Ramsey playing as the one.

He's performed well in his first two games in black and white and impressed enough that the Juve boss is happy to persist with the change, according to Goal.

It relies heavily on Ramsey playing that link role, of course, and the fact that they're already happy to rely on him speaks volumes for the impression he's made.

Sarri may well revert to his usual 4-3-3 when Costa returns but for now, he's picking Ramsey's influence over that system.

And who knows? Maybe he'll give Sarri something further to think about with his performances.

While it may have been a bit of a risk in the beginning, it has quickly looked like Ramsey was right to take it.
