Jose Mourinho wants to return to Real Madrid.

Goal are reporting that the Portuguese manager has turned down offers from the likes of Monaco, Schalke and AC Milan as he waits for a second chance of managing the Bernabeu club.

Mourinho was sacked by Manchester United last December and is still looking for a new managerial role.

And sources have told Goal that he’d be ‘very interested’ if Real offered him another chance.

Of course, Zinedine Zidane is the current manager of Los Blancos but is under pressure after a stuttering start to the season.

Since Mourinho has been out of the game, he’s turned down approaches from Monaco, Lille, Wolfsburg, Schalke and AC Milan.

Instead, he’s been looking closely at three clubs - Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich.

PSG and Bayern have stuck with Thomas Tuchel and Niko Kovac respectively, while Juve went for Maurizio Sarri after sacking Massimiliano Allegri.

He was also keen on Tottenham when it looked as though Mauricio Pochettino would leave for either Manchester United or Real Madrid.

Now, Real Madrid are firmly in Mourinho’s sights.

While Real now sit top of La Liga, they were thrashed 3-0 by PSG in their opening Champions League group stage match.

It left many fans asking questions of Zidane, despite the Frenchman previously leading the club to three Champions League titles.

And a loss to Atletico Madrid in the Madrid this derby this weekend will really heap the pressure on Zidane.

Mourinho will be no doubt sitting at home praying for an Atleti win so he can return to the Spanish giants.
