Is there a football fan anywhere in the world that dislikes Santi Cazorla? We highly doubt it.The Spanish midfielder is simply a joy to watch. And when you consider everything that he’s been through, you simply can’t help but admire him.Cazorla spent a whole two years out of football whilst at Arsenal, needing 11 operations and a skin gift on his right ankle.

He contracted gangrene on an infected area of the ankle and was told by doctors that he should be “satisfied” to even walk again - and could even lose his leg.

When he eventually left the Emirates in the summer of 2018, it was doubted that he’d ever play professionally again.

But Villarreal took a risk on him and it paid off big time.

Remarkably, Cazorla managed to play 35 of Villarreal’s 38 La Liga matches last season.

And despite turning 35 in three months time, Cazorla is bossing the Spanish top-flight right now.

On Friday night, he scored and assisted during the Yellow Supermarine’s 5-1 victory against Real Betis.

That means, in his last four matches, Cazorla has registered two assists and scored three times.

Last week, he was banging in a 30-yard screamer against Barcelona at the Camp Nou earning him a standing ovation from the home fans.

Not bad considering just a few years ago, doctors insisted that there’s no chance of him playing football again.

"If you manage to walk with your son again in the garden, be satisfied, they told me,” Cazorla told Marca in 2017.

"He saw that I had a tremendous infection, that I had damaged part of the calcaneus bone and ate the Achilles tendon, I was eight centimetres missing!"

Never. Give. Up.
