Liverpool endured a frustrating opening 45 minutes in their trip to Sheffield United on Saturday.
Sadio Mane, who is usually so clinical, missed two clear-cut opportunities as the Reds failed to register a single shot on target.
The first chance saw Virgil van Dijk play Mane in behind Sheffield's defence, only for the Senegalese to completely mis-kick the ball.
And for the second, Mohamed Salah led a counter attack and when the ball fell to Mane six yards out, he found the post instead of the back of the net.
Defensively Sheffield were pretty flawless and they managed to frustrate Liverpool by staying compact.
There was one heart-stopping moment in the 25th minute when John Egan, with no one behind him, slipped on the halfway line to give the ball to Firmino.
However, Egan produced a brave tackle with his head to stop Firmino in his tracks and allow his teammates to recover. Check it out below.
Phil Jones would have been proud of that.
Egan has been a standout performer for Sheffield this season and his head tackle exemplified the commitment the Blades have shown under Chris Wilder.
If the opening 45 minutes at Bramall Lane taught us anything, it's that Sheffield are going to be a tough nut to crack at home - even for the Premier League's big boys.News Now - Sport News
