Franck Ribery to Fiorentina on a free was the signing no one saw coming in the summer transfer window - but what a signing it's proved to be.

Despite the fact he turns 37 next April, Ribery has been a revelation in Florence, notching two goals and one assist in four Serie A starts this season.

The Frenchman has rekindled the form he once showed at Bayern Munich and he once again shone during Sunday's 3-1 victory against AC Milan at the San Siro.

Goals from Erick Pulgar and Gaetano Castrovilli gave Fiorentina a 2-0 lead before Ribery made it three with a lovely piece of skill and clinical finish.

Rafael Leao then scored a consolation for Milan - who went down to 10 men in the 55th minute - but the main headline was Ribery's performance.

Ribery was so good that when he was substituted in the 89th minute, he was given a standing ovation by Milan's fans.

Check out Ribery's goal and the reaction from the home supporters when he was taken off in the videos and pictures below.

Ribery was phenomenal as he terrorised Milan's defence, constantly driving at them and creating goalscoring opportunities.

It's no wonder Milan fans gave the 36-year-old a standing ovation based on his individual highlights from the game.

Ribery is certainly enjoying life at Fiorentina and speaking to reporters after the game he vowed to defy his age and keep working hard for the club.

"I am happy," he told reporters afterwards. "When you play at San Siro, it's always special. It's a huge arena, so many fans. We put in a good performance and that's important for us.

"I am old, but I feel young on the pitch. Football is my life, I love it. I was hungry when I came to Fiorentina and it excites me to see the team doing so well.

"I came to help Fiorentina, the players and the fans. I am happy, but I need to work every day, every week to play the way I did tonight."
