Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been in charge at Manchester United for over nine months now.

He took over from Jose Mourinho in December 2018 after a poor run of results that saw the Red Devils win just seven from 17 Premier League games.

We all know how much of an impact Solskjaer had as interim coach, turning fortunes around in just a few months.

A famous comeback against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League was expected to be the beginning of a new era at Old Trafford.

But since the Norwegian's position was made permanent back in March, results started to slip again.

United finished the 2018/19 season poorly and they have been just as bad at the start of the new campaign.

Solskjaer's record in the last 27 Premier League matches has seen just 14 wins, six draws and seven defeats. Not ideal for a club chasing Champions League football.

Incredibly, that form is identical to the last 27 Premier League games United played under Mourinho. The Portuguese took charge of 14 wins, six draws and seven defeats in his final 27.

Perhaps the club should have stuck with Mourinho after all? Well, that suggestion might be a bit of a stretch, but it does seem that United have made little progress under Solskjaer.

Recent performances have certainly proven that.

Last weekend, a dismal United were beaten 2-0 at West Ham and just three days later they needed penalties to beat League Two Rochdale in the Carabao Cup.

Solskjaer will be hoping for a response on Monday night when his team host Arsenal. With the Red Devils currently 11th in the Premier League, getting three points against the Gunners is essential.

If they fail to win, even Europa League qualification - let alone a top-four finish - will be a big ask.
