Manchester United and Arsenal used to be the best fixture in Premier League football.Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger in the dugouts. Patrick Vieira vs Roy Keane on the pitch. It used to be a fixture full of quality with some of the world's best players giving it their all to try and defeat their rivals. But it's now a shadow of what it used to be.United welcomed Arsenal to Old Trafford on Monday night with both sides struggling in the league.

And they looked like two mid-table sides as they drew 1-1.

After a quite dismal opening 40 minutes, Scott McTominay ensured that the hosts would go into the break with the lead after lashing his effort into the top corner.

Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang restored parity 13 minutes after half-time as he profited from an Axel Tuanzebe mistake.

With the game in injury-time, United needed to show some quality to try and get all three points.

But Victor Lindelof provided the opposite.

The Swedish defender was given the ball in his own half and found himself under pressure from Aubamayang.

Lindelof attempted to play a cross-field ball but he got it wrong. Horribly wrong.

He skewed his effort massively, with his pass actually going backwards and into the stands.

Not his finest moment in a United shirt, that's for sure.

Unfortunately, that pass from Lindelof summed up the match.

The second half was a slight improvement on the opening 45 minutes but it was still a largely unentertaining affair.

Both sides are in the Europa League this season after disappointing 2018/19 campaigns.

And they showed exactly why that is the case with their performances on Monday night.

Man United move up to 10th, having won just twice and accumulated nine points from their opening seven games.

Arsenal are three points better off in fourth.
