Manchester United 1-1 Arsenal was anything but a Premier League classic last night.

The two wounded giants of the English game both turned in low-quality performances at Old Trafford, with a dull draw probably a fair result come full-time.

Scott McTominay opened the scoring with a deflected long-range effort, before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang saved Unai Emery's job once again with his seventh league goal of the season.

Few players on the pitch showed any real quality throughout, with Daniel James, Matteo Guendouzi and Bukayo Saka probably the standout trio from both sides.

On the other side of the scale, Nicolas Pepe failed to justify his £72m price tag once again, while Jesse Lingard continues to look anything but a professional footballer.

The Englishman was reportedly central to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans at the start of the season, with a new contract set to be coming his way in due course.

But despite the manager's faith, Lingard is currently on one of the most embarrassing droughts in world football.

He may operate as a forward - whether that be out wide, as a number 10 or even as a false striker - but he is yet to score or assist in the Premier League in 2019.

The last time Lingard produced any worthwhile output in the league was back in December 2018, when he went through a bit of a purple patch - scoring four goals and notching two assists.

For a player who is supposedly approaching his 'peak years', those numbers really are pathetic.

The 26-year-old is still a regular in Gareth Southgate's squads and still makes United's starting XIs over the likes of Fred and Mason Greenwood.

While those two are yet to set the world alight for the Red Devils, they appear to be far better options than Lingard right now.

The writing is well and truly on the wall, Jesse.
