When it comes to Manchester United legends, few can surpass the achievements of Wayne Rooney.

The Englishman was snapped up from Everton in 2004 and he went on to enjoy 13 trophy-laden years at Old Trafford.

Rooney is the Red Devils' all-time top goal scorer, notching 253 in 559 appearances and surpassing Sir Bobby Charlton's record.

Oh how United could do with a player like Rooney right now.

Well, the Red Devils have a youth player who could have been mistaken for the club legend in a recent game with Leicester.

A short clip of Mark Helm, 17, taking and scoring a free-kick against the Foxes has popped up all over social media and it is eerily reminiscent of Rooney.

HELM'S ROONEY IMPRESSION

The same run-up, the same technique and even the same celebration at the end.

Well played, Mark.

Sadly for United fans, it appears Helm's impression of Rooney is reserved for free-kicks only.

A short montage of the attacking midfielder shows that while he looks immensely talented, he shares very few characteristics with the United legend.

While the Red Devils' recent history has been marred by poor results and questionable management, there is still hope over their academy.

In recent years, we've seen Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Scott McTominay break into the first-team and cement regular spots.

Behind them, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has the exciting young quartet of Mason Greenwood, Angel Gomes, Tahith Chong and Axel Tuanzebe.

Who knows, in the next couple of years we could see Helm step up and make a name for himself at the Theatre of Dreams.

Maybe a few more Rooney impressions will help your case, Mark.
