Imagine if Europe’s biggest clubs all competed in a five-a-side tournament. How incredible would that be?!

Teams would put forward five of their most skilful players to compete on a small-sized pitch and battle it out for glory.

If this fantasy became a reality, though, which clubs would boast the best five-a-side teams?

Listing the best 20 clubs right now, according to UEFA’s club coefficients, we’ve made five-a-side teams for all of them.

And, to make things even more interesting, we’ve ranked them in order from worst to best.

Remember, we’re ranking the five-a-side teams only - not how good the clubs are in real life at this moment in time.

20. FC Porto

Team: Agustin Marchesin, Pepe, Danilo Pereira, Luis Diaz, Ze Luis.

There’s certainly quality in this team. Ze Luis is scoring goals for fun in his debut season at Porto, while Danilo Pereira and Luis Diaz are also decent players. If only Pepe was a few years younger.

19. Benfica

Team: Odisseas Vlachodimos, Alex Grimaldo, Rafa Silva, Pizzi, Adel Taarabt.

We had to make room for the mercurial Adel Taarabt, who would surely be right up there among the world’s best five-a-side players. Rafa Silva and Pizzi also pose a major goal-threat from the middle of the pitch.

18. Shakhtar Donetsk

Team: Andriy Pyatov, Ismaily, Yevhen Konoplyanka, Taison, Junior Moraes.

Don’t underestimate this team: Yevhen Konoplyanka, Taison, Junior Moraes are all ballers on their day.

17. Sevilla

Team: Tomas Vaclik, Diego Carlos, Ever Banega, Oliver Torres, Lucas Ocampos.

Sevilla lack some firepower upfront, but Ever Banega and Oliver Torres are both ballers who could at least retain possession between them.

16. Lyon

Team: Anthony Lopes, Jason Denayer, Houssem Aouar, Memphis Depay, Moussa Dembele.

Houssem Aouar, Memphis Depay and Moussa Dembele in the same five would surely worry any opposing team.

15. AS Roma

Team: Pau Lopez, Chris Smalling, Cengiz Under, Javier Pastore, Edin Dzeko.

Chris Smalling is probably a bit fortunate to make this team but the on-loan Manchester United defender isn’t too bad with the ball at his feet. Cengiz Under and Javier Pastore are two very technical players, while Edin Dzeko is an underrated goalscorer.

14. Napoli

Team: Alex Meret, Kalidou Koulibaly, Fabian Ruiz, Dries Mertens, Lorenzo Insigne.

Kalidou Koulibaly would be a rock at the back, while Fabian Ruiz, Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne would create plenty of chances in the opposite half of the pitch.

13. Tottenham

Team: Hugo Lloris, Toby Alderweireld, Dele Alli, Son Heung-min, Harry Kane.

Plenty of quality players to choose from, but we had to find room for both Dele Alli and Son Heung-min. The other three are obvious picks.

12. Borussia Dortmund

Team: Roman Burki, Mats Hummels, Axel Witsel, Jadon Sancho, Marco Reus.

Mats Hummels at the back, Axel Witsel pulling the strings in midfield and Jadon Sancho and Marco Reus causing havoc upfront. A five-a-side team to be reckoned with.

11. Chelsea

Team: Kepa Arrizabalaga, Antonio Rudiger, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Tammy Abraham.

Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount and Ross Barkley were all unlucky to miss out, but it would have felt wrong not including both Jorginho and N’Golo Kante. This midfield duo would surely be exceptional together on a five-a-side pitch.

10. Arsenal

Team: Bernd Leno, David Luiz, Dani Ceballos, Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

They don’t always play that well together on an 11-a-side pitch, but five-a-side might suit them better as a team. David Luiz could maraud forward, Dani Ceballos and Mesut Ozil are both technically brilliant, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would score goals in any team.

9. Manchester United

Team: David de Gea, Harry Maguire, Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford.

Wait… what are Manchester United doing here? They’re still ranked in 10th place by UEFA’s club coefficients due to their achievements in Europe over the past five years. And their five-a-side team, on paper at least, actually looks very strong.

8. Bayern Munich

Team: Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Thiago Alcantara, Philippe Coutinho, Robert Lewandowski.

This five boasts quality throughout the entire team and would be a serious force to be reckoned with in any five-a-side tournament.

7. Real Madrid

Team: Thibaut Courtois, Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric, Isco, Gareth Bale.

Vinicius Jr and Karim Benzema both could have been the forward in this term, but we opted for Gareth Bale, who is still a top player despite what Zinedine Zidane might believe. This team also boasts a top goalkeeper, one of the best centre-backs of his generation, the current Ballon d’Or holder and a wonderfully talented playmaker.

6. Atletico Madrid

Team: Jan Oblak, Jose Gimenez, Koke, Saul, Joao Felix.

Jan Oblak is probably the best goalkeeper in the world right now, so that instantly puts Atletico up towards the top of the list. Koke and Saul are both excellent midfielders, while Joao Felix is a massive talent (and the fourth most expensive footballer ever).

5. Liverpool

Team: Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah.

It was impossible not to include Liverpool’s entire front three, which means this five-a-side team looks rather unbalanced. But.. Virgil van Dijk and Alisson are both world-class, so scoring goals against this side would be far from straightforward.

4. Paris Saint-Germain

Team: Keylor Navas, Thiago Silva, Marco Verratti, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe.

A five-a-side team with Marco Verratti, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe is always going to be a serious threat - as well as an absolute joy to watch.

3. Manchester City

Team: Ederson, Aymeric Laporte, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Sergio Aguero.

Man City’s five are obviously all technically brilliant. Getting the ball off this lot would be much easier said than done.

2. Juventus

Team: Gianluigi Buffon, Matthijs de Ligt, Miralem Pjanic, Paulo Dybala, Cristiano Ronaldo.

We couldn’t choose Wojciech Szczesny over Gianluigi Buffon, while the rest of the team basically picks itself. Matthijs de Ligt, Miralem Pjanic, Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo would all be fantastic together on a five-a-side pitch.

1. Barcelona

Team: Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Gerard Pique, Frenkie de Jong, Antoine Griezmann, Lionel Messi.

But in top spot it’s Barcelona’s five. Marc-Andre ter Stegen is world-class - maybe the best on the planet right now - Gerard Pique is a top ball-playing central defender, Frenkie de Jong will soon be one of the world’s best midfielders, Antoine Griezmann is a terrific player, and then there’s the main main up top. Just imagine how good Lionel Messi would be at five-a-side.
