Eden Hazard ranked as Real Madrid's second-worst 'Galactico' signing behind Michael Owen

Eden Hazard secured his dream move to Real Madrid this summer, but it's quickly turning into a nightmare for the Belgian.

He arrived at the Bernabeu to a fanfare, with many supporters and pundits suggesting he'd be the player that will finally replace Cristiano Ronaldo, who departed for Juventus in 2018.

But that's not how it's gone. After his £100 million move from Chelsea, Hazard's first months were blighted by injury.

He missed Madrid's opening three fixtures but has since returned to make appearances against Levante, Paris Saint-Germain, Sevilla and Atletico Madrid.

However, the winger has failed to make much of an impact on the pitch and just weeks into the season, the Spanish press are already on his back.

This week, Marca have ranked Hazard as Madrid's 'second-worst Galactico signing' behind only Michael Owen.

"So far, he has only featured in four official games. He hasn't netted yet and with him on the pitch Real Madrid have only scored once, thanks to Karim Benzema," they wrote.

The paper then went on to compare his start to the ones that Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, Luis Figo, Ronaldo and Kaka made to their careers at the Bernabeu.

Eden Hazard has struggled at Madrid

Only Owen took longer than Hazard to adapt to life in Madrid. The former Liverpool star failed to score in his first six matches before netting against Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League.

Hazard will hope he doesn't have to wait that long for a goal of his own. In fact, he has the perfect opportunity to bag one on Tuesday night.

Los Blancos host Club Brugge in the early kickoff and ahead of the game, the club's latest Galactico admitted he needs to step up.

Hazard admits he needs to make the difference at Madrid

"I have to improve, I have to be the one who makes the difference," Hazard told the press.

Fingers crossed that he does play well against Brugge, otherwise the negative press will continue to rain down on him.
