Real Madrid's disappointing start to their the Champions League continued on Tuesday night.

Club Brugge visited the Bernabeu and Los Blancos were expected to blow them away, but that wasn't the case.

Two first-half goals from Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis had the visitors in a strong position before Sergio Ramos and Casimero rescued a draw for Zinedine Zidane's side after the break.

Brugge's first goal came after eight minutes when Dennis tapped in from close range - but it was a bizarre finish.

Percy Tau slipped past Real's high line and sent a pass into the box for his teammate, who tripped over his own feet but forced the ball past Thibaut Courtois nonetheless.

Dennis' second also looked a bit lucky. This time, he stole the ball inside Madrid's half and while running at goal, tripped again before chipping the 'keeper.

Brugge went into half-time 2-0 up as boos rang around the Bernabeu.

By the time the two sides emerged from the dressing room for the second 45, the jeers had calmed down and the home fans were ready to back their team.

Their support worked too, with Ramos popping up in the 55th minute to pull one back. He climbed highest to head in Karim Benzema's cross.

The captain appeared to be right on the edge of the offside line, but VAR confirmed he was onside - by a few millimetres.

Real Madrid missed a host of chances throughout the game, with the likes of Lucas Vazquez, Benzema and Luka Modric firing shots desperately wide of the mark.

It was Casimero who came to the rescue in the 85 minutes, heading in from a free-kick after Brugge captain Ruud Vormer was sent off after picking up two yellow cards in 10 minutes.

Despite having an extra man, Real couldn't find a winner.

On top of the draw, Courtois also left the pitch injured in the second half and it's still not clear how serious his problem is.

What is clear though, is that Madrid certainly aren't playing well enough right now.
