Manchester City have recovered pretty well since their shock 3-2 loss to Norwich earlier this month.

A 3-0 win away to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League was followed up by a huge 8-0 victory at home to Watford. The beat Preston 3-0 in the Carabao Cup before Saturday’s 3-1 triumph against Everton at Goodison Park.

They looked to continue that recent good form as they welcomed Dinamo Zagreb to the Etihad in their second Champions League group stage fixture.

City, of course, are currently having to deal with something of a defensive injury crisis.

John Stones is out for a number of weeks, joining centre-back Aymeric Laporte on the sidelines.

It’s left Pep Guardiola needing to partner Fernandinho with Nicolas Otamendi at the heart of defence.

But it seems the club don’t want to forget about those that are injured.

Ahead of their clash against Dinamo Zagreb, City players warmed-up in ‘Laporte 14’ shirts.

A nice gesture? Yes. A bit bizarre? Yes.

Laporte was injured in Man City’s 4-0 win over Brighton on September 31.

So why wait more than a month to pay tribute to the Frenchman?

It just seems a bit odd, doesn’t it?

Laporte had surgery days after sustaining his injury against Brighton with a club statement saying: “The surgery, carried out by Dr Ramón Cugat in Barcelona, was successful and a more detailed prognosis will be provided in due course. Everyone at City wishes Aymeric a full and speedy recovery.”

Like all the City players, we wish him a speedy recovery.
