It's amazing that no European side decided to buy Hakim Ziyech this summer. After Ajax went on their incredible run to the Champions League semi-finals last season a number of their players were poached, including Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong. But not Ziyech. The Moroccan racked up 21 goals last season and was available for £35m.Arsenal were believed to be interested but in the end they moved for Nicolas Pepe. Bayern Munich were also linked with a move but went with Philippe Coutinho instead.

Ziyech eventually signed a contract extension and later explained why he didn't make the move to Germany.

When asked if he could have waited for an offer from Bayern, he replied: "Yes, I could have done that. But for me and Ajax, it was a good moment to obtain clarity.

"I think anyone could see what we achieved with Ajax. And what I contributed to it. But when the club with which I have the perfect feeling doesn’t come, then no. Then I’d rather stay at Ajax. A transfer was never a must."

And Ziyech just showed what they were missing with a screamer vs Valencia.

The 26-year-old picked up the ball from the right-hand side and decided an audacious effort from outside the box.

And his decision to shoot paid off as his effort flew past Jasper Cillessen with some venom.

And from another angle...

What a finish.

The Dutch side are already well on course for another deep run into the competition.

They defeated Lille 3-0 in their opening group stage game and are currently impressing away at Valencia.
