Ladies and gentleman - Lionel Messi is back to his best. The Argentine forward has had a frustrating start to the season. He suffered a calf injury in pre-season which forced him to miss Barcelona's first four games of the season. And in his first start back from injury Messi suffered a thigh injury and was forced off at half-time.Fortunately for Barcelona, he only missed one game and was available from the start in their Champions League tie against Inter Milan on Wednesday.

Barca were in real trouble at the Camp Nou after going a goal down inside the first two minutes.

The Catalan giants needed Messi to step up in the second half - and he did.

Luis Suarez restored parity after 58 minutes with a sensational volley.

And the Uruguay international then scored the winner five minutes from the end thanks to a magical assist from Messi.

The 32-year-old picked up the ball from the half-way line, bamboozled Kwadwo Asamoah with some quick feet and then drove towards goal at some speed.

He made his way to the edge of the box before cutting inside and putting the ball on a plate for Suarez, whose touch and finish was exquisite.

It was a sensational goal and one that looks even better with fan footage.

Messi is well and truly back.

There were some fears that this season could be the beginning of the end for Messi. But his performance on Wednesday indicates that he's not done just yet.

He's yet to open his account for the season but it seems only a matter of time before he finds the back of the net.

Messi spoke to the media after the win and he was full of praise for Antonio Conte's side.

"We needed to win because it is a complicated group, we tied the first game and winning at home is very important," he said, per Marca.

"They are a great team but after the break the pressure was better, together and we started to manage the game and generate chances.

"It was difficult because Inter put many people behind but we tried and luckily came the goals and victory."
