Christian Pulisic’s move to Chelsea isn’t working out as planned.

The American was signed from Borussia Dortmund for £57.6 million in the summer but he’s yet to make an impression at the Stamford Bridge club.

He hasn’t really been given a chance to.

Pulisic was a regular during the pre-season and in the opening weeks of the campaign but he’s played just once since August.

The 21-year-old was an unused substitute in the games against Wolves, Valencia, Liverpool and Brighton.

But he couldn’t even find his way into Frank Lampard’s squad for their game against Lille in the Champions League on Wednesday.

It comes just days after Pulisic admitted to being frustrated at his lack of playing time.

“It is very frustrating, but I will continue to work my hardest because I want to play,” the winger told Pro Soccer Talk after Chelsea’s win against Brighton on Saturday.

“It is tough for me right now. I just have to continue to learn. Like I said, I want to be on the field really bad.”

The season started well enough for Pulisic. He started three of Chelsea’s first four Premier League matches.

But his last appearance in the league came on August 31.

He’s featured just once in any competition since then - against Grimsby in the Carabao Cup.

The presence of Pedro, William, Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi has made things difficult for the US international.

And Lampard spoke about the depth the Blues have in attacking areas.

“We have to have really strong competition in wide areas and attacking areas,” the Blues boss said, per Metro.

“It must be like that, it must be on edge, and I’ve got a few different options in that area.”

William scored the winner for Chelsea against Lille, with Hudson-Odoi assisting his fine volley.

Chelsea have now won three matches on the spin and it could be a while before we next see Pulisic.
