EA Sports just couldn’t give us a decent Career Mode, could they?

The popular game mode was plagued with issues upon the release of FIFA 20, including inconsistent AI team selection, 75-game seasons, fixture congestion and more.

One screenshot shared on Twitter showed Manchester City in 10th, Arsenal in 11th and Liverpool in 15th place in the Premier League.

#FixCareerMode was trending on Twitter in the United Kingdom within hours of the game’s release on September 27.

And the game has a miserable 1.2/10 user rating from 1,168 gamers on Metacritic.

“This is the WORST state I've EVER seen a game being released in,” one person wrote.

“Career Mode is beyond destroyed. You treat loyal customers for over 20 years time like total ****. 0/10."

The frustration is entirely understandable and a petition to save Career Mode - and receive a public apology from EA Sports - has attracted more than 5,000 signatures.

The petition was created by Matt FCG.

“How can EA Sports be allowed to release an Broken Product?” he wrote.

“One of the ORIGINAL and most popular game modes is completely broken and in an unplayable state.

“Sign this Petition to create awareness to be passed on to both EA Sports and Trading Standards.”

Signees have voiced their anger at paying for a game that is “unplayable”.

“I am a career mode player, I spent £75 for the early version to get my hands on career mode only to find out the mode is unplayable due to the bugs it's that broken,” wrote Chris Walsh.

“It’s disgusting how a big game company finds it acceptable to release a game with so many bugs on release.”

EA Sports suggested that improvements will be made during a FIFA forum session.

EA Community Manager Gabriel Zaro said: “The team is currently working to investigate community concerns and are looking to address them in future Title Updates."
