Loris Karius claims he could play for Liverpool again after Besiktas loan

It’s fair to say that Liverpool have moved on from Loris Karius.

The German goalkeeper was loaned to Besiktas after Liverpool signed Alisson Becker in 2018.

Karius’ performance in the 2018 Champions League final increased the Reds’ need for a new ‘keeper and they paid a then-record fee of £67 million for Alisson.

The 26-year-old’s attempts to rebuild his career in Turkey are, however, not going to plan.

The Daily Mail note he has become an ‘outcast’ at Besiktas and his relationship with the club has soured over claims of unpaid wages.

And his howler in the Europa League against Slovan Braitslava last month was proof that Karius is still prone to making mistakes.

It’s easy to assume that most people at Liverpool believe Karius has played his final game for the club. But he doesn’t see it that way.

The goalkeeper refuses to close the door on a return to Merseyside, insisting it remains a “good option”.

“Will I play for Liverpool again? Of course it's an option and a good option to still be there,” he said, per the Daily Mail.

“Maybe I'll play for them again, you never know. It's still far ahead.

“If it's not Liverpool, it will be another decent team, so I'm not worried about any scenario.

“The Premier League is the best league so it is interesting of course.

“If you play in England you're always a bit more in the spotlight, but I'm at a good club now so we will see what happens at the end of the season.”

We all have dreams, Loris…

Chester FC v Liverpool - Pre-Season Friendly

It would take an unlikely series of events for him to play for Liverpool again.

Alisson has been brilliant since his arrival from AS Roma and Adrian arrived as his No.2 in the summer.

In Liverpool’s view, something has probably gone seriously wrong if they’re ever putting Karius in goal again.
