Liverpool’s 100 per cent winning start to the 2019/20 Premier League season continued on Saturday afternoon against Leicester City at Anfield.

The Reds went 1-0 up five minutes before half-time thanks to Sadio Mane’s strike.

James Maddison’s 80th-minute equaliser appeared to have sealed an impressive point for third-placed Leicester an impressive 1-1 draw, but James Milner’s stoppage-time penalty won it for the Reds with second remaining.

Virgil van Dijk had missed a chance to put Liverpool back in front minutes earlier, heading over the bar. But Milner made no mistake after a penalty was awarded following a VAR review.

The result means Liverpool remain top of the Premier League table with 24 points, eight points clear of Manchester City, who can close the gap back to five against Wolves on Sunday afternoon.

Mane’s goal was a typically composed finish from the Senegalese winger from a James Milner pass.
