Where do Gareth Bale and Neymar rank among the world’s current best players?

They’ve both been spoken about as the world’s third-best player behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at various points in their careers - and they’re still in the conversation now.

Bale remains a fantastic player, despite his recent struggles at Real Madrid. Zinedine Zidane might not be a huge fan, but the Welsh forward is currently convincing his manager that keeping him at the Bernabeu this season was in the club’s best interests.

Neymar, on the other hand, divides opinion because of some of his antics.

But he’s a world-class footballer, make no mistake about that. In terms of technical qualities, there are few better players on the planet than the Paris Saint-Germain superstar.

Both Bale and Neymar produced moments of individual brilliance on Saturday afternoon.

But which of the two stars produced the most ridiculous pass of the weekend?

Bale produced one of the assists of the season for Real Madrid against Granada within the opening two minutes.

From the right flank, Bale provided an inch-perfect outside-of-the-boot pass to Karim Benzema at the back post.

The French striker was left with a simple tap-in from a few yards out.

Sheer class.

Now to Neymar, who played a stunning pass to Juan Bernat during PSG’s 4-0 win over Angers.

The Brazilian received the ball from Bernat, took a touch, flicked it up, swivelled and volleyed it back into the full-back’s path near the byline.

Genius!

If you’re a lover of football, there are few things better than watching top players producing magical moments on the pitch.
