Manchester City have showed signs of fragility this season and that continued on Sunday afternoon as they were defeated by Wolves at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola's side were brilliant to finish the 2018/19 season. They won all 14 of their remaining Premier League games to snatch the title from Liverpool.

They were the favourites to win their third consecutive title this campaign. However, that is no longer the case.

Before Sunday's game, Guardiola's side had already dropped points twice this season.

They drew against Tottenham in August and were shocked by Norwich at Carrow Road the month after.

And they dropped yet more points against Wolves on Sunday.

Liverpool won their eighth straight game to start the season on Saturday afternoon thanks to James Milner's late penalty.

That put the pressure on Man City to close the gap to five points once again, but they failed to do so.

Guardiola was without Kevin De Bruyne for the tie but still fielded a strong XI featuring the likes of Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling and David Silva.

However, they failed to break through a resilient Wolves defence.

Man City were arguably second best in the first half.

Patrick Cutrone was set clear through in the fifth minute but he shanked his shot wide when one-on-one with Ederson.

And the away side had another chance to go a goal up 15 minutes later, but Fernandinho's double block ensured the scores stayed level.

Guardiola sent on Oleksandr Zinchenko, Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus in the second half to try and get the goal they needed.

And they came ever so close to doing so when Silva struck the bar with just over 20 minutes remaining.

City were piling on the pressure in the final 20 minutes but it was the away side that took a shock lead.

Wolves broke away and Adama Traore slid the ball past Ederson to shock the home side.

City pushed everyone forward to try and salvage something from the game but Wolves actually scored again through Traore in injury time.

They broke away in the game's dying moments and the winger made no mistake to send Wolves fans into dreamland.

What a result for Wolves. And what a result for Liverpool, too.

The Reds are now a massive EIGHT points clear at the top of the table. Could it finally be their year?
