WWE legends were on show during SmackDown's debut on Fox this past Friday, but one notable absentee from the show was The Undertaker.

The Undertaker was advertised alongside several other WWE legends that were planned for the special 20th anniversary show on Friday Night SmackDown this week.

The Deadman also teased an appearance on the blue brand on his social media before the show, but he never showed up on the broadcast.

A couple of hours after SmackDown had finished, a fan asked The Undertaker why he didn't make an appearance on the show.

The Phenom gave a very honest reply, as he said: “I was told I wasn’t needed.”

It's difficult to imagine WWE telling The Undertaker, one of the biggest superstars in WWE history, that he wasn't needed, but that's exactly what happened.

The Deadman wasn't the only legend WWE advertised but didn't use on Friday Night SmackDown, as neither Stone Cold Steve Austin or Sting made appearances despite being advertised.

Plenty of other legends though like The Rock, Kurt Angle, Lita, Trish Stratus, Mick Foley, Goldberg, and Mark Henry did make appearances on the blue brand show's debut on Fox.

Given that WWE's Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia is at the end of the month on Halloween, it wouldn't be surprising if we see The Undertaker back in a WWE ring soon ahead of the event.

However, when he wrestled at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia back in June against Goldberg, the match wasn't well-received due to the botches made throughout.

The right opponent will likely be needed for The Undertaker to wrestle at Crown Jewel at the end of the month in order to avoid the mistakes of Super ShowDown.

The Deadman's last appearance in the WWE cam on September 10's episode of SmackDown which took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The Undertaker last took part in a match for WWE at Extreme Rules back in July where he teamed up with Roman Reigns in a tag team match against Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon.
