Philippe Coutinho looks to be back to his best once again in the red of Bayern Munich.

The Brazilian’s dream move from Liverpool to Barcelona turned into a bit of a nightmare, with the midfielder only managing 13 goals in 52 La Liga matches.

Barca were desperate to get rid of the failing Coutinho in the summer and even offered Liverpool the chance to re-sign their former player.

Liverpool refused but Bayern took the chance.

They paid Barca £7.78m to have the 27-year-old on loan for the remainder of the campaign and agreed to pay his wages.

It was a risk but it’s already looking like a fantastic piece of business by the Bavarians.

Barcelona must be wondering why they couldn’t get the best out of him at the Camp Nou.

And they’re still paying for it - quite literally.

Coutinho cost the Spanish club more than £155 million back in January 2018.

And according to Spanish outlet AS, they still Liverpool a crazy £83.9m in instalments.

That’s despite the fact Coutinho may never play for Barcelona again with Bayern having the option to sign him for £109.84m.

If they do trigger that option, almost all of that money will just go straight to Liverpool.

And that’s looking more and more likely if Coutinho continues to impress.

Bayern currently sit third in the Bundesliga with Coutinho having scored twice in six league appearances.

In the Champions League, Bayern have won their opening two games - 3-0 vs Red Star Belgrade and 7-2 against Spurs with Coutinho impressing in both.
