Cain Velasquez made a big impact on his WWE debut when he attacked Brock Lesnar on Friday Night SmackDown last week, but he might not actually be signed to the company yet.

Cain Velasquez made shockwaves around the wrestling world when he debuted in WWE last Friday on SmackDown, attacking Brock Lesnar after he just won the WWE Championship.

Velasquez, who was accompanied by Rey Mysterio to the ring on SmackDown, has a rich history with Lesnar.

The two previously fought against each other for the UFC Heavyweight Championship back in October 2010. Velasquez defeated Lesnar on that occasion.

Velasquez is now rumoured to have a match against Lesnar for the WWE Championship at Crown Jewel later this month on Halloween.

However, despite his recent SmackDown appearance, the UFC fighter hasn't actually signed a contract with WWE.

Velasquez revealed this fact himself during an interview with ESPN after the blue brand show last week.

He said: "That’s correct, not officially … but hopefully. With tonight and doing what I did and kinda working with them … I would love to work with them. I would love it."

UFC is also supporting the former UFC Heavyweight Champion's transition from mixed martial arts to wrestling.

Velasquez said on MMA: ”I feel like fighting will always be there. I feel like I have the skills. This at the time is just really fun for me.

"And who knows where I’ll go from here but I’m enjoying what I’m doing and that’s it for me.”

Although Velasquez hasn't currently signed a deal with WWE, it would be surprising if he doesn't sign a deal with the company soon.

Neither Velasquez or Lesnar showed up on Monday Night Raw this week, so it will be interesting to see if either one of them appears on SmackDown this week.

The WWE Draft will begin this Friday, and both Lesnar and Velasquez are expected to be drafted to the blue brand due to Fox's desire to take a more sports presentation approach to the show.
