With Tottenham's current form, their recent venture to Madrid and the Champions League final certainly appears to be within fans' distant memory.

Nevertheless, with 17 defeats in 32 games, Mauricio Pochettino could be on his way out of the door sooner than everyone might think.

However, who is most likely to take the reigns of the north London club and re-establish the side as genuine top four contenders?

According to GiveMeBet, former Manchester United manager and three-time Premier League winner Jose Mourinho appears to be the firm favourite for the hot seat, with odds of 2/1.

The renowned manager has been without a club since he received his marching orders from Old Trafford in December of last year.

Mourinho has previously admitted his desire to return to coaching despite regularly appearing on Sky Sports for punditry work.

Speaking to the same organisation during an interview in the summer, he said: "I am hungry. I'm waiting for the right club, the right project."

Another name which appears to be linked with the Tottenham job is Eddie Howe. With odds of 6/1, the current Bournemouth manager has demonstrated his coaching ability, taking the south coast side from the depths of the football league to the top flight.

With limited funding and resources, Howe has exceeded expectations and transformed Bournemouth Football Club. However, it may be time for the English starlet to take the next step in his career and handle the reigns of one of England's high-flying teams.

A host of other names are currently left-wing shouts with the likes of Julian Nagelsmann, Erik ten Hag and Rafa Benitez all also allegedly in with a chance of taking over Spurs. Nagelsmann, with odds of 12/1, is currently in charge of RB Leipzig and could be considered the continental version of Eddie Howe.

However, with Nagelsmann joining the German outfit as recently as this summer, it's unlikely that he'll swap the Bundesliga for the Premier League.
