The big question surrounding who is better out of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will drag on way after the pair retire, that’s for sure.

The duo have produced some of the greatest talent shown on a football pitch in recent history and they’re still tearing the sport apart in their 30’s.

The pair have nine Champions League winners’ medals between them and when it comes to creating and scoring goals, they’re levels above the rest of the footballing world.

It’s safe to say, they’re in a league of their own and it’s very difficult to tell who is better.

And one man who will agree on that statement is former Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov.

The Bulgarian, who played with Ronaldo at United, feels that nothing can separate the pair.

In fact, he even claimed that they should both share awards each season.

The star duo have been going head-to-head for the Ballon d’Or and the FIFA Best awards for years now but Berbatov feels they should both take the glory together.

Talking to Goal, the former striker said: “Ronaldo versus Messi, how can you separate them?

“I think they should get their awards and give it to both of them. All the time.

“You can't say this one is better than the other.

"Ronaldo wants them all because he is so ambitious.

“He is desperate to break this record then that record.

“Messi is not showing it but inside and when he is at home then he probably thinks, 'I will f***ing destroy everybody'.

“When you are good, you know you are good.

“Why shy away from that?"

Messi and Ronaldo both have five Ballon d’Or titles to their name and will be rivalling each other again to clinch a sixth this time around.
