Coleen Rooney's public accusation of Rebekah Vardy "consistently informing The Sun newspaper of (her) private posts and stories” was anything but boring.

As GiveMeSport earlier reported, the 33-year-old took to social media to call out Rebekah Vardy, wife of Leicester striker Jamie, for leaking private stories to The Sun newspaper.

In a remarkable self-led investigation, Coleen made sure that her Instagram stories were only able to be viewed by the account she suspected of being the leak - Rebekah Vardy's.

The wife of Wayne Rooney then fabricated several fake stories on her Instagram stories to see if they were then published by The Sun and, they were. The latest fake story stated that her entire basement had flooded, but following Coleen's tweet, The Sun has removed it from their website.

In a series of unbelievable events, Rebekah Vardy then publicly responded to Coleen on Twitter, explaining that a lot of people have access to her Instagram account, suggesting it could've been hacked, however, she's failed to convince a lot of people with many accusing her of lying.

Coleen posted the exposé alongside a caption that read:

"This has been a burden in my life for a few years now and finally I have got to the bottom of it......"

It's hard not to sympathise with Coleen. Having been with childhood sweetheart Wayne since the age of sixteen, their relationship has been scrutinised by the tabloids and plagued with accusations, yet, the Liverpool-born mum-of-four has always kept quiet in a bid to ignore hurtful rumours.

Having grown up on Merseyside, Coleen supports Liverpool Football Club and has previously expressed her anger toward The Sun newspaper. The tabloid infamously blamed Liverpool fans for the Hillsborough disaster in 1989 and since, the entire city has shunned the publication. Not only has Vardy allegedly betrayed Rooney's trust, but she's also done so whilst working with what Coleen and her family regard as the lowest of companies.

What Coleen Rooney has demonstrated is sheer intelligence and inner strength. The 33-year-old has lived with the knowledge of a leak for 'a few years', and it must've taken great composure to keep quiet and investigate rather than publicly breaking down for the world to see.

Some, including Rebekah, have criticised her for dealing with the scandal publicly, however, I must disagree. A leak has caused Coleen public embarrassment for many a year, so why should she have to solve the issue behind closed doors?

It's worth noting that when an individual decides to sell stories to a newspaper, the publication requires them to sign legal documents that state the individual would be able to defend the source of their stories in court. Rebekah Vardy is currently seeking advice from her legal team, nevertheless, if The Sun did receive stories from her, she will be required to admit to doing so.

The Scouser's accusation has quickly gone viral on Twitter. As she explains the process in which she carefully conducted her self-investigation, it's not apparent that she's about to reveal to the world who the link is, and many people are applauding her for composing such a well-thought-out plan.

"It's.......Rebekah Vardy's account."

Although a huge amount of enjoyable drama, it's disappointing that in a world where footballers wives often receive such bad press, that they cannot rely on one another for support. Rebekah Vardy has been one to champion 'women supporting women' and was pictured with various England WAGs during the 2018 World Cup in Russia - although it must be noted that during this summer's Women's World Cup she labelled an all-female pundit panel as sexist. Vardy has also expressed her disgust towards tabloids that have previously published stories on her personal life, as well as trolls who leave comments on social media, referring to them as "nasty people." If Coleen's exposé rings true, her credibility is sure to hit rock bottom.

We could all learn a thing or two from Mrs Rooney. Whether we take on board her professional composure, her investigation skills, the confidence to go public or perhaps the sheer perseverance and strength it takes to eliminate a toxic friendship - let's all consider being a little bit more Coleen.
