Petr Cech will be remembered as one of the Premier League’s greatest ever goalkeepers.

Chelsea signed him from French club Rennes in the summer of 2004 for £7m and he went on to become a club legend at Stamford Bridge.

He played almost 500 times for the club over the next 11 seasons, winning five Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, two Community Shields, a Champions League and a Europa League.

But his time in England wasn’t finished there.

He spent a further four years at Arenal, winning another FA Cup and two Community Shields.

But at the end of last season, he hung up his gloves.

But now, he’s swapped his football goalkeeping gloves for ice-hockey ‘net minder’ gloves.

That’s because he’s signed for ice hockey club Guildford Phoenix for the rest of the season.

'I am delighted to have the opportunity to play with the Pheonix to get the match experience,” Cech said.

"I hope I can help this young team to achieve their goals for the season and try to win as many games as possible when I have the chance to play.

"After 20 years of professional football this is going to be a wonderful experience for me to play the game I loved to watch and play as a kid."

The Pheonix head coach Andy Hemmings said: "The signing of Petr is massive for the Pheonix.
'He is a great guy who trains hard and I cannot wait to see him make his debut."

Cech is currently a technical and performance advisor at Stamford Bridge but it seems he wants to take up a new hobby in his spare time.
