We've reached the second international break and the Premier League is in full swing.

Liverpool have already extended an eight-point lead with their 100% start, but Manchester City are still mounting a solid challenge in spite of defeats to Norwich City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

At the other end of the table, Manchester United are hovering just two points above the relegation zone, which is currently being occupied by Everton, Norwich and Watford.

But the standings aside, the first eight games have also given supporters the chance to form an opinion about some of the biggest summer signings.

We've already assessed the 10 most disappointing purchases - sorry Christian Pulisic and Nicolas Pepe - but now we've selected our picks for the most exciting arrivals thus far.

1. Tyrone Mings (Aston Villa)

Securing the 26-year-old on a permanent basis has been a masterstroke for Villa and his Midas touch hasn't faded, earning the first two England call-ups of his career in the process.

2. Adrian (Liverpool)

Is there a better back-up goalkeeper in England? We're not sure there is and, barring that error against Southampton, Adrian has seamlessly covered for the injured Alisson Becker.

3. Harry Wilson (Bournemouth)

On the topic of Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp will be rubbing his hands together after seeing Wilson come into his own and score three times during his first loan spell at a Premier League club.

4. Erik Pieters (Burnley)

Pieters wasn't the most exciting prospect after playing in the Championship with Stoke City, but three cleans sheets, three assists and Burnley's lofty start in seventh place make him look like a bargain.

5. Rodri (Manchester City)

Rodri and City always looked like a match made in heaven and the former Atletico Madrid man has been a beating heart in midfield under the watchful eye of Pep Guardiola.

6. Sebastien Haller (West Ham United)

If Haller can continue his current form, then he looks an absolute shoe-in for signing of the season because four goals in eight games makes him exactly the striker West Ham have been looking for.

7. Wesley Moraes (Aston Villa)

Wesley's career story is a fairytale in itself and his Premier League journey is only extending the magic. The Brazilian has scored three times - including a brace at Norwich City - and has also registered an assist.

8. Neal Maupay (Brighton & Hove Albion)

Splashing £20 million on a Championship striker was always going to be a risk, but Brighton seem to have uncovered the perfect Glenn Murray successor after three goals in eight games.

9. Daniel James (Manchester United)

Talk about hitting the ground running. The Welshman is one of few positives in a disastrous season for United and, like the two players before him, has also made the scoresheet on three occasions.

10. Youri Tielemans (Leicester City)

Leicester, much like Villa and Mings, had a 'try before you buy' situation and Tielemans has rewarded their faith with an exhilarating start to his permanent spell in England.
