Manchester United's woes continued last Sunday as they were beaten 1-0 by Premier League strugglers Newcastle United.

Nineteen-year-old Matty Longstaff - the brother of Sean Longstaff, who United tried to sign in the summer ironically - was the goalscorer on Tyneside.

In the 72nd minute, Longstaff was teed up by Jetro Willems and beat David de Gea with a powerful strike into the bottom corner.

A new hero was then born at St James' Park as Longstaff sprinted to the corner to celebrate and was surrounded by his teammates.

It was a moment the teenager will never forget, and after the game he gave a heartwarming interview alongside big brother Sean.

"Last night you go to bed dreaming of it but you never think it will happen," said Longstaff. "I'm over the moon, speechless.

"I found out I was in the team yesterday after training, the butterflies started going and I looked forward to it ever since, I was buzzing.

"It (the goal) was hit and hope and rather than a placed shot but it's in the back of the net. You can't describe the feeling, running away to the fans, it was surreal.

"I thought my first-half shot was in but it hit the bar. That was a bit disappointing but to get the goal front of the Gallowgate End, it's that little bit special."

Longstaff dominated in midfield against United and showed no signs of being nervous on his Premier League debut.

And what's more is he only earns £850-per-week.

Marcus Rashford, on the other hand, earns £250,000-per-week, while Fred - who was absolutely awful against Newcastle - is reportedly on £120,000-per-week.

Based on the performances at St James' Park, it should be Longstaff on more money than Fred, not the other way around.

Longstaff's contract expires next summer but Newcastle chiefs are said to be keen to tie him down to a new-and-improved deal.
