Manchester United are seriously struggling this season.

After eight Premier League games, they sit 12th in the table with two wins, three draws and three defeats.

That simply isn't good enough for a club as big as United.

One of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's main problems comes in attack. He sold Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan over the summer, leaving his side a little short.

Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood are his only options upfront and the trio have failed to impress so far.

It seems almost certain that United will look to bolster their attack in January, but there's plenty of debate over who should come to Old Trafford.

Mario Mandzukic has been heavily linked, but former Red Devils defender Clayton Blackmore believes his old club should turn to Zlatan Ibrahimovic once again.

"We’re lacking a target man and the only thing that is going to save us this season is Ibrahimovic," he told the Mirror.

"He has thrown his name in the hat and he’s probably the best target man you can have. He’s 6ft 5in, he’s a black belt and he fancies his chances against anybody.

"He’s still scoring goals, too. We have got rid of so many good strikers - [Wayne] Rooney went, [Robin] van Persie went, loads of them.

"These players have gone but they haven’t been replaced. Bringing Ibrahimovic in is a no-brainer. He doesn’t run, but he doesn’t need to because he is that good.

"We should try and get him in January or whenever we can because he can lead the line."

It's certainly a bold shout, but perhaps isn't as crazy as it seems. Ibrahimovic has scored 30 goals in 29 appearances for LA Galaxy this season at the age of 38.

He's also already proved he can cut it in the Premier League, having spent one memorable season at Old Trafford, where he scored 28 goals before getting injured and moving to America.

With all that in mind, Zlatan might actually be the man to save United.
